A Bit About Us
The Natural Fibre Company is a specialist wool mill based in Cornwall close to the Devon border. We have 18 staff: eleven in production, and five in marketing and administration, with two directors also employed on management and marketing. We have outside, part time help with accountancy, information technology and the web site. Since relocating to Cornwall in 2005 our turnover has increased year-on-year by around 15%. We have launched Blacker Yarns and established ourselves internationally as a supplier of high-quality yarn. The holding company is called Blacker Sheep. We are a people orientated and value-driven company and enjoy sharing these values with customers and partners.

- Trainee Business Administrator Apprentice (January 2022 Start)
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to support the smooth running of the office in line with business and customer requirements. The success candidate with report to the Account Executive. The role will include customer support handling enquiries, provide appropriate advice and process orders, dispath samples, record incoming fibre and prepare production sheets. This role will work closely with the Production Team and monitor the production schedule, ensuring that orders are progressing as planned. The trainee apprentice will gain a range of skills and knowledge about the industry with opportunities for further learning and progression. - Mill Assistant (full time position)
Hours of working: 0700-1600, Monday-Friday.
Reporting to the Front End Supervisor, the main purpose of this job is to be responsible for general front end cleaning and housekeeping, basic operational tasks and material handling. You will have a minimum of 2 years experience in a production team (FMCG or similar), an ability to investigate, understand and resolve issues quickly and efficiently, an eagerness to learn and a high attention to detail. - Finishing Operative (full time position)
Hours of working: 0700-1600, Monday-Friday.
Ideally you will have some knowledge of textiles, be good with your hands, thrive in a busy environment and eager to learn. The main purpose of this role is to safely and efficiently operate all necessary equipment in order to process customer orders to the correct quality and specification. The role will include administrative tasks such as capturing all production related data in the correct format (either paper-based or electronic), maintain excellent housekeeping at all times, operate the various production machinery and carry out related tasks as necessary, specifically but not restricted to twisting, reeling, cone winding, washing, balling, labelling, banding and packaging. We need people who will be hands on, involved, and who have high energy and fitness levels and good IT skills. Due to our location a clean driving licence and use of a car are pretty much essential.
We are happy to receive speculative CVs which we will retain for six months in the event of suitable opportunities arising.
We also welcome applications from those returning to work and who have transferrable skills acquired from other work environments and industries.
