The Natural Fibre Company is a specialist wool mill based in Cornwall close to the Devon border. We have 18 staff: eleven in production, and five in marketing and administration, with two directors also employed on management and marketing. We have outside, part time help with accountancy, information technology and the web site.  We are proud to say that we are aiming as far as possible to pay staff near to the Living Foundation living wage once their employment is confirmed following probation.

Since we relocated to Cornwall in 2005, our turnover has increased year-on-year by around 15%, we have launched Blacker Yarns and established ourselves internationally as a supplier of high-quality yarn.  The holding company is called Blacker Sheep. We are a value-driven company and enjoy sharing these with customers and partners as well as our whole staff team.



July 2021 - Mill Assistant (temporary position)

You will be responsible for basic operational tasks, general front end cleaning and housekeeping, with key duties supporting the Goods in, Scouring, Blending, Carding and Finishing production functions with tasks such as sorting, assistance in taking off cleaned fleeces, cone winding and pallet wrapping. The role will involve some administrative work such as completing necessary paperwork related to material handling and yarn production and complying with manufacturing systems and processes.

You will have a minimum of 2 years experience in a production team (FMCG or similar).  For further details about the role visit the job description here

July 2021 - Finishing Operative (temporary position)

Ideally you will have some knowlede of textiles, be good with your hands, thrive in a busy environment and eager to learn. 

The main purpose of this role is to safely and efficiently operate all necessary equipment in order to process customer orders to the correct quality and specification. The role will include administrative tasks such as capturing all production related data in the correct format (either paper-based or electronic), maintain excellent housekeeping at all times, operate the various production machinery and carry out related tasks as necessary, specifically but not restricted to twisting, reeling, cone winding, washing, balling, labelling, banding and packaging.
