A crow in the garden - on the way to the Woollen Woods

This handsome Blacker Crow, made by Anne, from Black Welsh Mountain chunky yarn, and stuffed with wool (of course), is sitting amongst the honeysuckle just coming into bud in the hedge in my garden.  However, he is on his way to the Woollen Woods project by  Eden Arts in the Eden Valley in Cumbria - last year was at Acorn Bank and this year will be at the National Trust property of Sizergh.

The crow will probably have to travel by snail mail as his wings are not quite ready for flight yet (and anyway, it's quite a long way from Cornwall to get there by 4th April).  He will join many other creatures, and creations, on show from 12th April - well worth a visit as you can see from the website gallery of last year: http://canopyart.co.uk/info/?page_id=53

We are also offering a prize of 5 more balls of Black Welsh Mountain Chunky yarn to the first five people requesting it, together with the pattern so that you can make a flock of friends for the Blacker Crow.  You wil find the pattern for him at

BUT YOU MUST PROMISE TO MAKE THE REST OF THE FLOCK IF WE TRUST YOU WITH THE YARN!!!  You will have until 4th April, 2014 to submit your crow.

Meanwhile, the Blacker Crow ventured onto the bay tree as well - to show off his plumage against the brick wall ...
