This nice Mule is one of a pen waiting for the shearing demonstration at the recent Launceston Show.  Generally we simply cannot attend every local one-day show, as there are so many.  They are all wonderful and so because the Launceston lot asked really nicely and are on our doorstep we made an exception.  We had a small stand just by the sheep pen, in a gazebo.

The Natural Fibre Company has been at Launceston for 10 years next month, so we thought we should celebrate!

We have been hard at work designing and making a limited edition yarn: blended from ten different breeds (thank you James for your hard work in getting the blend even with such a variety), selected for their softness and to be representative of what we do at The Natural Fibre Company and Blacker Yarns.

Here are four new Gotland ewes, rushing towards a bucket of food!  They are very tame and a nice dark colour, and have quite good fleeces (one very good, one more coarse and two medium).  We need darker fleeces for the darkest shade of Blacker Yarns Gotland yyarn so it was quite useful to find them for sale, along with a ram lamb and two wethers.  Even nicer that the ewes are all daughters of my old ram David, who had one of the finest coats I have ever bred!  They were born up on the edge of Dartmoor and then moved to near Axminster, so are wholly Westcountry Gotlands still ...
