This is scrub oak, the main vegetation on the steep river valleys of the Cornish ria coastline, looking down from the Hall Walk between Fowey and Polruan. I love the twists and contrasts and feel a knitting design coming on! It was a perfect day for a walk: no flies and no mud!
Here is the view across to the mouth of the River Fowey, the Gribben landmark and parts of Fowey and Polruan with the may blossom in the foreground.
And of course to end the day we sat on the terrace at Polkerris to watch the sun go down – and many of our friends seemed to have had the same idea so it became quite social!
