Here at The Natural Fibre Company in the heart of Launceston, we are very proud of our highly skilled, expert team of people. Our textile industry trained engineers and specialist finishers have been trained in-house. We have almost 100 years of experience of processing wool so you can be assured that your fleece is in very good hands and that we can be trusted to add value to your product in order to provide the highest quality possible.

Our office is small but very productive with everyone helping to ensure that we provide an efficient and quality, first class service to our regular and new customers.

The Natural Fibre Company team

June is our General Manager and Co-ordinator overseeing all the operations and working on scheduling in particular. She is assisted by Karen, our Finance Controller.

Beki is our Account Executive dealing with our commission spinning customers and helping them develop projects and market their yarns.  Zoe (not pictured) joined in the team in January 2022 as a Business Administrator Apprentice, and works alongside Beki and June.

Bruce is our Production Manager working closely with the Mill Team which consists of James, our carding engineer, along with the spinning staff, Ryan and April. Reece is the king of sorting.  This group handles production up to the finishing stage.

Beth (currently on maternity leave), Wendy, Tom and Tay ply, wash, reel, wind and ball-wind the yarns with help from the rest of the team.

James is our most experienced member of staff and was recently named as a Manufacturing Hero by UKFT, you can read more about him here (link is external)

The Blacker Yarns team

The team is led by Kamila, the Brand Manager who is focussed on developing and expanding the Blacker Yarns offer, extending the social media activity and blogging.  Kamila speaks several languages including English, Polish, Russian and some Czech. Emma provides Marketing Support to Blacker Yarns as well as helping in the warehouse with the processing of orders and packing when it is very busy.

In December 2019, Colin Spencer Halsey and Graham Higgins bought the business. Colin took over as CEO and Sole Owner in April 2022, he is Westcountry based and has extensive knowledge of the manufacturing sector.

We outsource services when we need to and when appropriate. We regularly have the support and inspiration of student interns, helping with Blacker Yarns operations. We also engage a range of consultants to support our day to day activities. We’re a friendly team of people and we love to talk about yarn so do get in touch if we can help you in anyway.
