Gotland and BFL: two very different breeds and rams for sale
I have posted pictures before but this is more about personalities! Here are Emily (officially Mathilda) and Freya the Gotlands and Juno with Maia and Flora, the BFLs.

The BFL sheep are large, pretty docile, reasonably intelligent, pushy and greedy. Their lambs tend to lie around and not come when called by their mums.
The lamb tally and other interesting things
So we have 15 lambs in all, 5 Blue-faced Leicester (3 boys and 2 girls) and 10 Gotland (2 boys and 8 girls), which is pretty pleasing. We lost just one, which was the second to be born but was not coming out without help. By the time we managed to extract him, it was too late, but his mum seemed OK as she already had one little ewe, Misty (see below for more on her!).
Lambs are here!
31st March: 7 lambs so far from 5 ewes - half-way there! Mainly Blue-faced photo's so far, but one Gotland!

More lamb preparations
18th March: This weekend saw the completion of our electrical installation work - I now have lights in all areas of my barn thanks to Douglas.

A free lacy knitted cowl pattern for Mother's Day
18th March 2012: Yes I know! It's today ... but mothers are entitled to be late sometimes and this is really lovely! So you can give the yarn and pattern to your mother or make it for her and it's actually incredibly quick and easy to knit as well, so you might even finish before the day is over ...

Throwawy prices for throws
19th February: we are doing a bit of early tidying so putting some throws on special offer - AND WE MEAN SPECIAL! All at well below half price ... Enjoy!

Preparing for lambs
19th February: only about 6 weeks to go so up go the food rations! All are looking quite good and healthy and seem very content ... so far, so good! A few coughs have been treated and we are keeping a VERY careful eye on feet. Here are a few lambs from previous years!
My favourite places (and people)
Between Black Head and Portloe on the south coast of Cornwall there is some lovely coastline and of course we have a coastal path ...

Winter shearing and Happy New Year!
17th January, 2012: Happy New Year! Here are pictures of the flock and winter shearing. Gideon the shearer and I delayed this event, which is normally before Christmas, because the weather was horribly wet. Sheep are fine with cold but much less happy with wet, particularly when shorn. So I feed them extra rations and give them access to shelter anyway but the wet and wind were a bit much. We seem to have struck lucky as it has scarcely rained since we did it.
