Partnership opportunities and openings for knitters

The Natural Fibre Company is a small company with a dedicated, loyal staff of 12, seven in production, two in the office and the managing director. Two others work part-time.

Almost a year ago we appointed an operations manager whose brief is to increase productivity and build output. His role includes responsibility for health and safety, environmental management, training, maintenance and all production equipment.

As we are growing, we are at present interested in talking to people about marketing, and in due course there may be opportunities for engineering, finishing and production staff. We can train finishers and are looking into the possibility of taking on an engineering apprentice.

Yorkshire was once the world headquarters of the wool industry. It is still an important centre, but carding engineers are in short supply and there is a risk that their skills will be lost. The Natural Fibre Company would one day like to stop this decline and become involved with a carding engineering course.

With the on-line shop, part-time opportunities will increasingly arise for weavers, machine and hand knitters as we develop more of our own products and patterns.

Managing director Sue Blacker will always talk to people with the relevant experience or qualifications and who share her passion for natural fibre and high quality. If there is no immediate vacancy, details will be held until an opportunity arises.

We have a standard contract of employment which we regularly update to comply with best practice and the latest regulations.

Those interested should either e-mail info@thenaturalfibrecompany.co.uk, write to Sue Blacker or telephone 01566 777 635.
