As the smallest large spinning mill, or possibly the largest small spinning mill in the world, we are uniquely able to provide a wide range of processing services and support to help our customers add value to their wool, mohair or alpaca.
The pages you can access from here describe our history, team and values all of which are closely related and based on caring for our world, starting on our doorstep. To do this, we need to make a viable profitable business and have the skills to deliver our promises, so we are always open to suggestions and ideas, criticism and (of course) praise. Just contact us to start the conversation!
We also believe that collaboration and consultation are the best approaches to achieve success in business so we are happy to develop partnerships with customers, suppliers, producers, designers and do so worldwide. Hopefully this will give you ideas and that you will share them with us.
Blacker Swan knitting yarns, for example, are the result of a partnership with Andrez & Ali Short, whose farm is at Swan Inlet on the Falkland Islands. We have also worked with Rosy Stegmann and Patrick Gruban to develop a new range of organic melange yarns for Rosy Green Wool (link is external). We also work closely with many breed societies to support the development of markets for their fibre.
Our willingness to collaborate with others who think the same way has enabled us to attract a number of trade orders involving new developments, specialised production and economic experimentation. We have worked, or are working with some of the biggest names in the textile industry and expect to attract more.
As the first point of contact for small producers looking to add value to their fibre, we can also offer advice for those who need to change the way their flocks are managed to produce raw fleece of a sufficiently high quality and also provide support on marketing. For some ideas on what our customers have been achieving, take a look at our case studies.
Those interested in working with us should either email firstname.lastname@example.org (link sends e-mail), write to Sue Blacker or telephone 01566 777 635.
