Specialist mill to add value to your fibre

Welcome to The Natural Fibre Company, the largest small mill in the UK with a wide range of options designed to help fleece producers make the most of their fibre and add value to it.

If you are a potential new customer, we can help you to decide what to do and then make the yarns for you. Most start with knitting yarns, but there are plenty of other possibilities, including just washing and carding to prepare fleece for hand spinning or felt making.

Our existing customers know who we are and what we do, but they are always talking to us about trying something new. For those who would like to know more about what others have achieved, we have published a series of case histories which can be downloaded from this website. Click here.

We can also help with dyeing, either in our own dye-house or with outside experts. If you want your yarn woven we have good relationships with a group of weavers in Wales and also know weavers across the country.

While wool is the biggest component in our production, we are also experienced with mohair and alpaca and can advise on blending fibre from different animals or with silk, flax or hemp.

Our aim is to ensure that you get your own fleece back in the best form to sell, so why not read through the Placing an order pages on the site, download what you need or telephone us to talk it through. The office hours are shown on the left, but you can contact us here.

The wonder of wool

Wool is a fantastic, natural and sustainable fibre that historically has provided much of this country's wealth; knitting is no longer for grandma sitting in the corner, it's highly popular, growing fast and terribly fashionable!

There are 29 million sheep in the UK, but outside of farmers and shepherds, few realise there are over 60 different breeds. To help those that want to learn more: schools, students or just the plain curious, we added a brief education page with links to museums, breed societies and to other sections of the site.
